
In Loving Memory of Sarah B. Goolsby-Hambrick
We mourn the passing of Sarah Bell Goolsby Hambrick, who was born on August 29th, 1933 in Monticello, GA to the late Bertha Goolsby. Sarah was an incredible person, who exhibited passion and dedication in all aspects of her life—from her deep love for God and her family, to being a dedicated mother to numerous children. She had two siblings that preceded her in death: Albert Goolsby and Rosa Mae Monroe.
Sarah was educated in the Monticello, GA school system before she and her family moved to Atlanta, GA. She worked for many years with the Roadway Inn and Smyrna Inn Hotel chain. The impact of her impeccable work and golden heart will forever be cherished and remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Sarah was United in Holy Matrimony to L.B. Hambrick who preceded her in death. She excelled as a homemaker and a mother. She was an active member at Sims Avenue Church of Christ in Atlanta, GA. She loved her church family and loved serving the community. The children in the community called her “Ms. Sarah” and her motherly spirit touched many.
She leaves to cherish her memory to eight children: Alfonso Goolsby, William Goolsby (Janice), Richard Goolsby of Atlanta, GA, Oscar Goolsby (Kimberly) of Tallahassee, FL, John Goolsby (Alesia), Lamar Goolsby, Emma Sherrer, Jimmie Hambrick of Atlanta, GA. Niece Yolanda Gay. 3 Cousins, 23 Grandchildren with a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah received her Heavenly promotion on Sunday, March 5th, 2023. Her presence will be deeply missed in this world. May she rest in eternal peace.
